maataara Hike & Gacako Waterfalls Chase is another trail that straddles at Muranga -Kiambu counties border. Very close to Kimakia Forest Trail.

The journey starts from Nairobi, enjoy a 2-hour scenic drive through the Kenyan countryside passing through the Tea Farming Plantations to the Trek starting point.

On arrival ignite your soul with the magic of forest bathing, the short exciting and adventurous trail to Kimakia Falls with multiple river crossings and walking on an unbeaten trail follows an old fisherman's path down the forest full of indigenous trees giving the trail a well-cover providing much-desired shade from the sun. The trail then goes down to a giant Mugumo tree before crossing the burbling Chania River and then following the Ragia River to the double-tier waterfall.

We cross over and start climbing up towards the Ragia River. After about an hour or so of hiking through nature's beauty with a scenic view from both sides, we reach our destination the base of the thundering approximately 60m -2 stair Kimakia Falls.

Take time and be mesmerized by the beautiful sight of 3 waterfalls thrashing over the rocks with majesty, enjoy the peaceful moment to connect with self, and let the roaring thunderous sound calm you down. Soon we retrace our steps back to the camp as we continue the hike through the dense bamboo forest.

A comfortable Hiking shoe with excellent grip and a Trekking pole is recommended on this trail for crossing the rivers

There are high chances of coming across wild animals on this trail, especially The Columbus monkeys and occasionally elephants are found but disappear into the thick forest.
